I've overcome my fear of stumbling others and then being responsible for their actions. My entire life as a jw, I was constantly in peril that what I was doing might look bad to someone, even normal activities. Now, I don't really care. It's nobody's business if I watch an R rated movie--Romans 14:12 is a great scripture. I know I don't have any kind of universal truth, so I don't feel inadequate if I can't explain some obscure religious question that may be asked of me. I have nothing to justify. I constantly try to improve my understanding of the world through education and discussion, and I'm open to reasonable argumentation. I'm not afraid to learn something that might conflict with what I think--I invest nothing in my beliefs other than the question of whether they make sense. Well, that's a few rambling thoughts on the matter anyway. ;-)

Being humble is difficult
by John Doe inwhen perfection is yours in every way.
i can't keep away from the mirror long, 'cause my reflection reveals my superior stature and charm.
those who know me love me, owing their affections to my being a hell of a man.

Good work Gopher! I was wondering if anyone would catch the reference, of if everyone would think that by pointing out my superiority I was just being a blow-hard. :-)

13-yr old girl writes: example of Witnesses lying
by Dogpatch ini get emails like this all the time.
some jw gets upset at the stuff on my site, and wanting to add more weight/shock value to what they say, they either mention in passing that they are "not one of jehovah's witnesses" or are a child.
this one claims to be a 13-yr old girl!

I see absolutely no benefit claiming that one is a child. I can see denying being a witness--that's an attempt at faking a "balanced" view. However, what goal does claiming to be a 13 year old girl achieve? Nothing. I see no reason.
However, what age group seem to be most overtly obsessed with their own age? Is that not juveniles? Wouldn't they be much more likely to include their age for no reason? Furthermore, the writing is on a very juvenile level.
In conclusion, I see no reason to accuse the author of this one as lying. Mary's book review, however, is a different story.

I see no problem with the suit. Wait staff should not be expected to make a big deal about a freaking birthday. Friendly, courteous, and accurate service is what should be expected. Nothing more, nothing less. Cip, you have some issues. Have you considered getting counseling for your anger?

Share some of your most bizarre experiences..............
by Warlock inwhen i did janitorial work, i cleaned a law office.
one night, as the owners were leaving, they told me that one of the attorney's, by the name of bill, was leaving to work for a different firm.
for the next couple of months, though, i kept seeing this attorney there, working.

One time I sat down to defecate, and easing down to the seat, I let out a well proportioned work of art. I went to wipe, but to my surprise, my cheeks were completely dry!

I find the chance of someone winning two elections and managing to not get fired while having the most volatile position in the country while being an idiot to be highly unlikely.

It's rather foolish to claim that Bush is an idiot. You can disagree with his policies, but calling him an idiot is being a bit sheepish and following propaganda.

Atheists, Why the Anger?
by XJW4EVR inok, so you deny the existence of a god, or you lack belief in a god.
my question why do you get so angry over a mythical being?
no one gets as upset over the tooth fairy, santa claus or the easter bunny, as i have seen some of the atheists on this board get over the slightest mention of god.

I challenge EVERY SINGLE ATHIEST HERE to falsify what I have said and prove that God doesn't exist.
Yes, to even attempt to do so would be ..... well foolish.
So, would it be foolish to attempt to disprove the existence of fairies? If so, why?
